Simulation based Flow Optimization for Polymer Melts
"For melt-spinning processes a uniform distribution of the polymer flow in the spinneret is essential. The construction of the distributor has to consider the difficult flow behavior close to the boundary. Polymer flow simulations in connection with shape optimization are shown to be very helpful finding an optimized construction. The applied model for polymer flow is based on the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation for a non-Newtowian fluid."

 Dreamex - Stretching Nonwoven
Monolithic elastomeric nonwoven have been a "Holy Grail" of the nonwoven industry since at least the 1990's. Presently, elastomeric properties are obtained in nonwoven-composite products; by gluing on elastic fibres, laminating elastic films, or heat stretching non-elastomeric webs. Each of these alternatives are lacking in their ease of production, cost, properties, appearance, hand (haptics), or a combination of these. In reponse to this, Fiberweb developed a new class of stretchable/elastic, conformable fabrics using a spunmelt nonwoven process. These fabrics are comprised of Bicomponent sheath/core fibres produced using Spunbond technology at a novel and extremely low sheath/core ratio resulting in truly elastic fabric with excellent elastic performance.

 Pick and place application concept
The main difference and the big advantage between this new application concept and the old slip & cut application concept is the elimination of the slip phase which is the most critical process phase in order to keep the stability of the application and the relative quality. In this new process concept the material is picked at application length per product speed and placed at pitch product speed avoiding any slip phase.
